Delicate Butterfly, Greater God

“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” Philippians 4:5 (NIV)

I have always loved flowers and butterflies but I started falling more in love with them when my little girl was born. My husband and I had been struggling for about five years to have her and we were not sure she would ever be making an appearance in the world. We had been told by the doctors that it would be difficult to conceive, but we did not let that discourage us.

We know that God had a perfect plan for our lives and we had the hope that his plans were better than ours. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) reminded us of this, “'for I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

When she finally made her grand entrance into the world, her gentleness and beauty reminded me of a delicate butterfly.

Butterflies are such a beautiful expression of how God sees us here on earth. They make up such complex parts, yet, they are so fragile.

How many of us don’t walk around with all the things life has thrown at us with a tough exterior in order to protect ourselves from more attacks? I know that I lived all my life thinking I didn’t have a fragile bone in my body. I walked around with my head held high, as if nothing could touch me or hurt me in any way. However, that tough exterior was only hiding the truth about how fragile I really am.

One thing about butterflies is that they are so delicate and vulnerable. The color on their wings is what helps protect them from predators. This is why their wings should never be touched. Touching them can make them liable to attacks.

Humans should be thought of like butterflies. No human should ever be touched, physically or emotionally, in any way that could potentially harm any part of their body. Doing so leaves them vulnerable to the attacks from the enemy. This is why we always have to remember God’s promises.

Psalm 32:7 (ESV) says, “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.”

How incredible is is that God offers us this type of protection? He is our Elohim Shomri, which translated from Hebrew is, “God protector.” What better promise that God, who reigns over all of heaven and earth, is our protector?

We have all been hurt at some point in our life and are vulnerable in one way or another because of it. The great news is that God is our hiding place and gives us comfort when we have been hurt. In Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV), Jesus tells us, “come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Knowing that we can go to Jesus for anything that brings us pain is the best reminder that God has been and is always with us. He has never left us alone or abandoned us. Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) tells us to, “be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Ideally, we should always be treated like butterflies and even when we are not, the best news is that our Father in heaven will make this happen if we ask him. Exodus 14:14 (NIV) tells us that, “the Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

God’s promises are true and he fulfills them. He has a higher purpose for us than we can imagine and if we ask him, he will always make sure no one even considers touching our wings. We need those to fly🧡.

With Faith and Love🧡,

Mariuxi🧡
